At the very heart of Chateau Gaudrelle are the special, old vineyards owned by Alexander Monmousseau, which are located in Vouvray, first mentioned in the District Archives of Tours in the 1500's. Like his father, grandfather, and great grandfather before him, Alexandre manages the vineyards by only natural means; no insecticides or herbicides have even been used in over 100 years.

The 14 hectares of south-facing vineyards are are composed of argilleous and chalky soil. Chenin grown this way produces off-dry to sweet wines, depending on the vintage. The taste of this wine is characterized by quince fruit and acacia flower. The average production is a mere 6,500 cases.
