“An intense, nervy Chardonnay, grown on the estate along the Silverado Trail. Shows good acidity and a minerality that makes it elegant and firm, giving a bracing structure to the oak inspired flavors of pineapple tart, peaches and cream.”

2008 Allan Scott Chardonnay

Chardonnay

The vintage of 2008 provided excellent growing conditions. Components of the blend are specifically chosen from four different sites in the Rapaura region. Each batch of juice was barrel fermented in new or 1-3 year old French oak barriques and was expressly selected to add complexity and fullness and to import balance with their unique characteristics. Malolactic fermentation occurs while the wine is left to mature on its lees for 10 months. During this time regular ‘battonage’ is performed on selected batches to enhance the creamy mid palate. The wine is then blended and bottled.

"The 2008 Allan Scott Chardonnay is full bodied, displaying ripe stonefruit characters, a light creaminess on the palate and a trace of French oak on the nose. The palate has good length and structure originating from concentrated fruit, malolactic fermentation and mineral complexities, ensuring this wine will age for several years to come."

2008 Kangarilla Road Chardonnay

Chardonnay

The 2008 vintage was a season of challenges with mixed weather conditions in McLaren Vale. A cool, normal February led to a bout of warm weather in early March resulting in excellent ripening conditions for our Chardonnay.

The 2008 Kangarilla Road Chardonnay is a fresh citrus driven current drinking style complimented by the light use of oak with 30% of the wine fermented in new French oak Barriques. The wine matures for 100 days with daily barrel stirring. This oak component is unobtrusive yet critical to the overall aroma and flavour balance. Lively citrus and zest flavours together with light tropical fruits and white peach. This is an elegant style displaying tight acidity, great length of flavour together with integrated mid palate texture coming from the use of subtle oak.

2008 Therapy Chardonnay

Chardonnay

Estate grown grapes were hand harvested, pressed and barrel fermented in 100% French Oak (75% new).  Malo-lactic fermentation and lees stirring were employed during the 10 month maturation in barriques. Orange peel, nectarine and cream, with peachy nuances, and hazel nut complexity. Very full bodied with rich mouthfeel and a long toasty finish.

“The expressive nose of citrus, honeysuckle and spice and overt minerality signals a top-drawer chardonnay. Intense flavours of lime acidity, orange custard, honey and peaches uplift wonderfully integrated French oak. Creamy texture, full-bodied, rich example of oaked chardonnay.”

2009 Johnny Q Chardonnay Viognier

86% Chardonnay & 14% Viognier

The different grapes were picked at the following sugar levels to produce the fruit flavours that are required to make this great wine blend. The Chardonnay at 13.5 Baume gives the melon and peach flavours with a medium bodied backbone and the Viognier at 13.0 Baume gives the wine honeysuckle and apricot flavours and also a different dimension and complexity. Most of the grapes were picked together and fermented in the same tank to help integrate all the flavours. Portions of this wine underwent oak until the right balance was achieved.

This wine is a straw yellow with a shade of green. The bouquet is fresh, with intense notes of peach, apple and lychee fruit. On the palate, medium weight wine with round ripe fruit flavours balanced with a hint of spice from the oak, finishing crisp and clean.
