2007 Kangarilla Road Zinfandel

Zinfandel

“The 2007 Black St. Peters Zinfandel was sourced from a single estate vineyard. Dark ruby-colored, it has serious Zinfandel varietal character with a briery bouquet, velvety black fruit flavors, and excellent balance. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.”

2Up Shiraz is handcrafted from a blend of grapes specifically selected by Kevin O’Brien from Kangarilla Road fame. The skilled craftsmanship in both the vineyard and winery results in a medium bodied wine that shows bright aromas and flavors of blackberries, spicy stewed plums and dark cherries with a subtle hint of chocolate, beautifully integrated oak and a long lingering finish.

“Plump and generous, with a welcome savory note adding depth to the ripe cherry, licorice and rosemary flavors, lingering on a relatively refined finish.”

2008 Kangarilla Road Chardonnay

Chardonnay

The 2008 vintage was a season of challenges with mixed weather conditions in McLaren Vale. A cool, normal February led to a bout of warm weather in early March resulting in excellent ripening conditions for our Chardonnay.

The 2008 Kangarilla Road Chardonnay is a fresh citrus driven current drinking style complimented by the light use of oak with 30% of the wine fermented in new French oak Barriques. The wine matures for 100 days with daily barrel stirring. This oak component is unobtrusive yet critical to the overall aroma and flavour balance. Lively citrus and zest flavours together with light tropical fruits and white peach. This is an elegant style displaying tight acidity, great length of flavour together with integrated mid palate texture coming from the use of subtle oak.

2009 Kangarilla Road Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon

The wine was fermented in traditional open fermenters with heading board systems and in static open fermenters using gentle cap management techniques. The pressed wine was aged in a combination of new French and American oak complemented with an even mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4 year old oak. The 2008 Cabernet was sourced from four vineyards in the McLaren Vale district.  The major percentage is from the McLaren Flat vineyards together with that of an immediate neighbour. These vineyards located at the northern part of the foothills ripen later than many of the other sub-regions resulting in “cooler climate” aromatic dark fruit driven wines with intense mid to back palate presence and an abundance of soft velvety tannins.

“On the light side, this crisp red offers fine tannins around a juicy core of berry and coffy flavors that emerge on the expressive finish.”

Shiraz

The major percentage of this wine is from the McLaren Flat vineyards. These vineyards located at the northern part of the foothills ripen later, resulting in “cooler climate” spicy aromatic dark berry driven wines with intense mid to back palate presence and an abundance of soft velvety tannins. The second component is sourced from both the Blewitt Springs and Seaview areas where soils range from mostly deep sands to red earth on limestone. The final component is from a vineyard in the Sellicks sub-region which is very close to the sea.

“Strong purple; an aromatic bouquet of black fruits, spice and licorice sets the framework for the palate, with the addition of a hint of dark chocolate and some interesting savoury notes.”
